Dear NSYMCA Summer Camp Families,
As the news about COVID-19 continues to evolve, our team is dedicated to keeping the community safe this summer at the NSYMCA Summer Camp.
At this time, only essential employees are allowed to enter the building and it is being monitored daily by maintenance and/or senior staff.
But rest assured that our camp leadership team is still working and planning for our best summer ever! Below are 5 fun camp updates.
1. REGISTRATIONS ARE STILL OPEN
Even though our doors are technically closed, summer camp registrations remain open. Check out our summer camp 2020 Camp Guide for more details. You can email your Registration Form anytime to: registrar@nsymca.org. Camps are filling up FAST!
2. SMALLER CAMP GROUP SIZES
New this summer, our most popular camps will be divided into multiple groups. This allows us to maximize participation, increase safety measures and practice better social distancing.
3. HOME BASE
This summer we will go from three outdoor tented seating areas to SIX! The additional tenting will allow groups to spread out further while protecting campers and staff from the sun. The extra tents will also eliminate the need for indoor drop off and pick up during light rain and wetness.
Camp groups will now have their own consistent home base area for taking daily attendance, leaving belongings, eating snacks and lunch, pick-up and more! Home bases will be stocked with cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer. Each home base will have its own 8-foot flag banner for easy identification.
4. HAND WASH STATIONS
All campers will wash their hands at every transition. Last summer we experienced great success by renting outdoor hand washing stations and we plan on renting even more this summer. Stationed by the playground, the loading dock entrance and the camp stage, campers can easily wash their hands outside without waiting in line for the indoor restrooms.
5. LOST & FOUND FRIDAYS
Tired of sending water bottles to camp only to never see them again? Lost & Found Fridays are here to help! Every Friday, lost items will be organized on tables at the loading dock entrance for campers to investigate throughout the day. Parents are also encouraged to look through the items during drop off and pick up.
Most importantly, we want you to know that we are working hard to make this our safest and most successful summer ever, as we know how important it is for your family and our community. Come join us for an exciting summer!
Sincerely,
Ricky Gonzalez
