Dear NSYMCA Summer Camp Families,
The Y-USA and the American Camping Association are currently working with the CDC to create new protocol and best practices for all camps this summer. We will be following those guidelines once they are released sometime next month. This is very promising news as it suggests the CDC has not ruled out that camps can operate safely this summer.
This summer we are already planning to implement smaller camp group sizes, more outdoor hand washing stations, frequent campground sanitizing and a strict rotation schedule--along with any and all other guidelines that allow for a safe summer.
As of today, we are planning on facilitating camp as planned beginning Monday, June 8. However, there is a possibility camp could start later than anticipated. If that is the case, we will communicate this news as soon as we can. We are prepared to run camp as soon as we are allowed. We will provide refunds if camp does not start as expected.
We know how challenging this uncertainty and waiting period is for our community. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe by staying home. The NSYMCA is currently offering a wide variety of e-learning and virtual programming with more to come. Please visit http://www.nsymca.org/ for more information.
Even though the NSYMCA doors are closed, our leadership team is still hard at work (from home) planning for this unprecedented summer. We understand how truly important it will be and we will make it the most fun and safest summer ever as we get back to our “new normal”.
Please let us know if you have any questions, comments or concerns at this time. Thank you! Be safe.
Sincerely,
Ricky Gonzalez
